Health Services
The following health services are provided from the Health Department:
- Blood pressure screening
- Senior Wellness Program at various sites in the community
- Home nursing services, including primary nursing care and non-primary care
- Annual influenza and pneumonia shots
- Prenatal health care for pregnant women
- Cancer screening services for breast, cervical, colorectal and prostate cancer
- Investigation of reportable diseases
- Auditing of Pre-School and School student immunization records
- Health education programs on a variety of topics
- Dog and cat licensing
- Licensing and regulation of retail food establishments
- Licensing and regulation of public recreational bathing facilities
- Licensing and regulation of tattoo and body piercing facilities
- Licensing and regulation of animal kennels and pet shops
- Enforcement of regulations regarding tobacco sales to minors
Some of these services are provided by contract with community health service providers. Please call for eligibility requirements, times, and locations.
Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Nutrition Program
This program provides food coupons for pregnant women and women with infants and children that meet certain financial criteria. The coupons and checks are redeemable for food at participating area stores.
By contract these services are provided by the Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey at their primary care service locations. For additional information or to schedule an appointment please call 1-800-862-3330 (VNA of Central Jersey) and identify the Township as the referral agency.
Child Health Conference / Well Baby Clinic
A program for infants or children up to age six. Services include:
- Routine physical examinations
- Immunizations
- Screening for lead, anemia and TB
- Counseling and education for parents
- Hearing and developmental tests

Day Care, Nursery Schools and Camps
In cooperation with State licensing agencies, periodic inspections of youth camps are made to ensure they are maintained in a safe and healthful manner. Inspections of Day Cares and Nursery Schools are usually performed by State agencies. However, the Health Department will respond and investigate complaints.
