Veolia will be conducting hydrant flushing in the Millhurst section of town on Monday, March 11th, weather permitting; work will begin after 3PM and go into the evening hours. Veolia is are aware of schools and other buildings in the area, which is why they are starting the operation after 3PM. They informed us that they sent out a notification to all the customers in the area alerting them of the work. The flushing process removes harmless minerals that collect in the water mains. As a result, some customers may notice a temporary drop in water pressure or may have discolored water. They ask customers, if they notice cloudy water, to simply run a cold water tap until it runs clear before drinking or washing clothes or dishes. Running the cold water from the lowest point in the house or in the bathtub for several minutes typically clears the lines.
