Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI), also known as bird flu, has caused deaths among wild birds across New Jersey and is being monitored by NJDEP Fish & Wildlife and federal partners.
If you see sick or dead birds, especially groups of 5 or more, please report them using the Wild Bird Disease Reporting Form (photos encouraged):

The risk to the general public remains low, as this is primarily an animal health issue. Residents are reminded to:
- Avoid touching sick or dead animals or their droppings
- Keep pets away from wild birds and carcasses
- Avoid direct contact with wildlife
