Manalapan Township Announces New Recreation Building to Serve Community
Manalapan, NJ — September 8, 2025 — The Township of Manalapan is proud to announce the development of a brand-new Recreation Building, a state-of-the-art facility designed to expand opportunities for residents of all ages to gather, learn, and play. The proposed project was explained to residents on August 27th and again on September 3rd. More public meetings will be scheduled as the plans continue to develop.
The new Recreation Building will serve as the centerpiece of Manalapan’s growing recreational offerings. The modern facility will featuremulti-purpose community rooms, indoor activity spaces, and areas dedicated to fitness, youth programs, and senior activities. It will also provide expanded opportunities for recreational classes, cultural events, and community programming throughout the year.
“This is an exciting milestone for Manalapan,” said Mayor Eric Nelson. “Our township has always taken pride in offering outstanding recreational opportunities and this new facility will enhance our 212-acre Recreation Center. We have what many consider to be the best municipally owned park in New Jersey and the proposed 120,000+ sq. foot facility will provide a space where families, neighbors, and residents of all ages can come together. It’s an investment in both our community and our future.”
Deputy Mayor Mary Ann Musich, liaison to both Township Recreation and Senior Departments said, “I am thrilled about this project which will provide much needed indoor space for our Seniors and all those who participate in our Recreation offerings. It will enrich all of our programming.”
The project reflects Manalapan’s ongoing commitment to enhancing quality of life for residents, while ensuring that recreation and community resources keep pace with the township’s growth. Construction is expected to begin in 2026 with an anticipated opening in 2028.
The Recreation Building project is made possible through the dedication of the Township Committee, Recreation Department, and the support of the community and will be funded through the existing open space levy.
