September 11th, 2001 is a day we will never forget. As a tribute to those lost on that day and to show appreciation to all First Responders, Active, Retired and those that have passed; The Gordon’s Corner Fire Company and Manalapan Township have partnered to host a First Responder Appreciation 5k Run/Walk event on October 3rd, 2021.
Proceeds will benefit the Tunnels to the Towers Foundations, the Fallen First Responder Program, the Gold Star Family Home Program, and other first responder charities.
Participants can register at www.gcfire.org. T-shirts will be given to everyone registered by September 15th. In addition, those finishing the event will receive medals as well as awards for various category winners.
Bring the family and help us celebrate our First Responders!
Participants are asked to wear Red, Blue, or Orange to show their support.
Those not participating but want to show their support are encouraged to line the route and cheer the participants on!
A post-race award ceremony including light snacks will be available at the finish location.
The Manalapan Township Recreation Department is conducting an 11 week “Covid Couch to 5k” race prep program to help residents get ready for the event! Participants in this 11-week program will meet weekly to get motivated and be provided with new milestones and workout routines for the following week. Participants will continue their progress on their own as they to get ready for the 5k event. This program is open to all ages and abilities.
