Keeping with tradition, Manalapan’s Township’s signature event “Manalapan Day” will be bigger and better than ever with a day-long family fun celebration culminating with music from chart-topping legends from the 70’s and fireworks lighting up the Manalapan skies!

Manalapan Day, the popular annual event with families will be held at the Manalapan Recreation Center, Route 522 & Taylors Mill Road from 3-10 p.m. The Manalapan Arts Council (MAC) is organizing the annual community celebration, with free parking & free admission for all.

“For the first time ever, Manalapan Day will open early at 2:00 p.m. for families with small children to enjoy, including a free ‘bounce house,’ a special time and perfect for parents with little kids,” says MAC Chairman Marty Gelfond.

Starting 3:00pm, the Manalapan Rec Center officially opens for Manalapan Day for seven hours of excitement until 10:00pm, the size of a county fair with small town appeal.  Fun & games and delicious food & exhibits from a midway full of vendors are just a part of Manalapan Day, including carnival & pony rides for kids, a petting zoo, local performers including the Manalapan High School Cheerleaders, “Buster” from the Lakewood Blue Claws, musical acts and non-stop entertainment on two large stages with a famous legendary musical hit machine from the 70’s on the main stage, followed by a stunning fireworks show in the skies above Manalapan!

Manalapan Day 2017 will be highlighted by Philadelphia R&B legends, Harold Melvin’s Blue Notes, famous for their chart-topping 70’s hits “If You Don’t Know Me By Now” & “The Love I Lost.”

Also highlighting the main stage will be popular Manalapan music group Alter Ego, the steel pan ensemble The ManalaPANS, and Davia Echols who sings the National Anthem.

“On Manalapan Day the town gives back to our Manalapan residents.  With the help of our truly dedicated and phenomenal MAC volunteers we are able to once again raise the bar,” says Manalapan Mayor Susan Cohen.  “Come show your Manalapan spirit and see why Manalapan is a great place to live.  This year’s sponsorships have far exceeded expectations & once again Manalapan Day entertainment is brought to the residents without using any taxpayer funds!”

The master of ceremonies for Manalapan Day for the tenth consecutive year is Tommy G, longtime New York & New Jersey radio personality and the afternoon host on WCTC-AM (1450).  Tommy G will also host “Trivia with Tommy G” with WABC (770) radio reporter Jeff McKay at the Main Stage, giving people chances to win prizes.

In the event of rain, Harold Melvin’s Blue Notes will perform at Manalapan High School, Church Lane. There are 1,000 seats in the auditorium that will be available on a first come - first serve basis.
